Day Nine: evil plan guide

So much success thus far! It makes my heart happy. I shall hold on to this feeling, and when I get home and try to sew something and then fail miserably, I will not despair because I am doing so well right now.

Minor characters:
- the man Greta is in love with
- 2 old ladies
- Duncan
- ghosts (3?) (ARE THERE GOING TO BE GHOSTS?)
- Ben’s parents
- Greta’s boss

1) Johnny McNoNameYet
- personality not evident
- generally pleasant; never complains about slow service or lousy weather or long lines
- frequents the sock-and-shoe store, always buys the exact same pair of shoes
- undercover agent
- never talks about his personality, only about the weather
- motivation: anonymity
- goal: infiltrate sock-and-shoe store
- conflict: lack of cooperation of store owners
- “he always introduces himself by his last name, like he’s James Bond.”

His storyline: Days spent on surveillance at s/s store, near the coffeeshop where Greta works. His mission is to learn the ins and outs of the store, so another agent can pose as legit businessman who knows the buesiness so the Stewards will sell to him. When Ben is kidnapped, his mission is to rescue him to return the store to normal so they can buy the store. When the weather machine is a success, his mission is to confiscate it for the government, which he does with the ruse of being romantically inclined towards her.

2) Duncan Smith
- family has been the mascot for hundreds of years
- HATES being the mascot, so he befriends Ben with the plan to eventually trick him into doing it
- self-assured/confident, ladies man
- uses relationships to his advantage
- motivation: personal success and fulfillment

His storyline: Mostly behind the scenes. Previously made a bet with Ben, with consequence being taking over mascot duties. Ben hates him since the incident, tries to avoid him, but Duncan follows him around and makes fun, goes into s/s store to buy ladies shoes. When Greta makes it in the news, he tries to seduce her to use her newfound fame and weather to his advantage.

3) Mrs. Murphey and Mrs. Millar
- retired librarians, experts on the town and the inhabitants
- very interested in historical accuracy – always making comments to Ben about how he could improve his performance
- very generous with money/time/expertise, always volunteering tips/advice
- strong sense of justice (feel very guilty about using Ben)
- motivation: historical accuracy, success of the town’s 200th anniversary celebration
- goals: perfect celebration, helpfulness
- conflict: lousy mascot, then Greta’s weather

Their storyline: In the background. Comment on Ben’s performance/attitude as mascot; when he’s kidnapped, they see Greta at work and spill re: his flaw. Remind her that they need him back before the celebration. When she buys the castle they come to visit her and comment re: lack of landscaping, general shoddy appearance, etc. Are horrified with her lack of enthusiasm about the celebration, and her bad timing with moon/weather.

Day Nine Highlights: I'm just on a continuous roll! Sorry to those of you who are not interested in this aspect of the creativity blog. I'm stuck in the mountains without a sewing machine.

Day Nine Lowlights: I can't decide if there are going to be ghosts! And I can't figure out the "AFTER THE JUMP" thing. Boo.

Tomorrow: hmm, let's see... more novel! On Wednesday I will be back to crafts.
